Susan Sarandon Bio

It was shortly after 1968's Democratic convention There was an audition for a movie that featured several roles for young people who had disrupted the convention. Two recent graduates of Catholic University in Washington DC were invited to audition in New York for Joe (1970). Chris Sarandon, who had studied to be an actor, was not selected by the casting committee. His wife Susan was offered the role as Susan Compton. Susan Compton is the daughter of Bill Compton (Dennis Patrick). In the film Dad Bill kills Susan's drug dealer partner and then makes friends with Joe (Peter Boyle)-- an obnoxious worker in an assembly line and who is a collector of guns.Five years after, Sarandon made the film where fans of cult classics are familiar with her character Janet, who gets entangled with transvestite Dr. Frank n Furter in The The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975). After over 15 years, Sarandon became a vocal advocate for Annie in Bull Durham (1988), transporting herself from Rome to Los Angeles at her expense. She stated "It was such a great script... it did away with many myths and challenged the definition of success". "I attended the film studio along with Kevin Costner and shook hands with his gorgeous assistants before getting back on the plane. Tim Robbins, her Bull Durham (1988) actor, a supporting actor, was her first love. He had two sons in 1992. This put Sarandon in a difficult position. She left her home in order to pursue characters that were extremely difficult. The result was four Academy Award nominations in the 1990s, and the best actress award for Dead Man Walking (1995). Her first Academy Award nomination was for Louis Malle's Atlantic City (1980).
