Moss was born February 13, 1977. He is an American footballer. He was a player
in the National Football League (NFL) for 14 seasons with the Minnesota
Vikings, Oakland Raiders, New England Patriots, Tennessee Titans, and the San
Francisco 49ers. Widely regarded as the greatest wide receiver of all-time
along with Jerry Rice, he holds the NFL single-season record for touchdown
receptions (23 in 2007) in addition to the NFL single-season record for
touchdown reception for rookies (17 in 1998) and is second on the NFL all-time
regular season touchdown reception list, with 156. Moss is famous for his
ability to get contested catches. The term "mossed" which has been
incorporated into the football vocabulary, became popularized due to this. His
career began as a studio announcer for ESPN's Sunday NFL Countdown and Tuesday
Night Countdown shows. Moss was born in Rand, West Virginia. He attended DuPont
High School. It was one of two schools which was later amalgamated into
Riverside High School. There Moss excelled in basketball, football, baseball,
track, and other sports. Randy was also on the school’s debate team. Moss was
the captain of the DuPont Panthers football team to two consecutive state
championships in 1992, 1993. He was an excellent wide receiver however, he also
played free safety, returned punts and kickoffs, as well as was the team's
kicker and punter. He received the Kennedy Award in 1994 as West Virginia's
Football Player of the Year. Parade magazine named him to their All-American
high-school football team in 1995, and in 2009, he was named one of the 50 best
football players from high schools ever.
